Description
Our course fosters a love of learning and literacy through hands-on projects that help students meet Common Core Standards for ELA. In the reading component, students analyze and comprehend various texts, develop vocabulary, and apply their skills in multimedia projects. Writing involves developing skills for different purposes and audiences, practicing proper grammar, and collaborating with peers. The course emphasizes collaboration and develops speaking and listening skills through presentations, debates, and discussions. Students meet 4th Grade Common Core Standards for ELA by the end of the course and develop lifelong critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Materials Needed:
Book: (soft cover, or Audible is fine) “Island of the Blue Dolphins” by Scott O’Dell, paper for printing worksheets/projects; a folder to keep assignments in; pen or pencil; book for 2nd semester is pending
