STEAM 6/7 A: Goodbye, Styrofoam!
- Grade Level(s): 6,7
- Duration: 8 Weeks
Partner math with science to investigate alternatives to Styrofoam. Concepts include area, ratios, rates, percentages, data analysis, atoms, elements, and thermal energy.
In this course, you will discover the science and math that lurks in everyday life. We will learn how to harness what we discover to improve our world and the world of those around us. This class’s focus will be learning how to think creatively as an engineer, scientist, and mathematician as we answer this driving question: How can we design a material that can replace styrofoam? As we explore our world to answer this question, we will be learning about area, ratios, rates, percentages, data analysis, atoms, the periodic table, thermal energy, and changes between the three states of matter.
