Course Description

Part 1: Doodling, Drawing, and Design
This class may sound like something you might do when you have nothing to do, but you are actually giving your brain a workout. Doodling and drawing stimulate and exercise the brain’s right side. Great inventions, art pieces, and ideas have come from journaling, sketching, and daydreaming. This course stimulates innovation, thinking, and drawing skills. Students will brainstorm multiple approaches to an art or design problem, combine ideas individually and collaboratively to generate innovative art-making, use note-taking strategies that help the visually-minded, and begin to listen to the creative mind that assimilates information and ideas.

Part 2: Design with Elements of Art
Learn to draw whatever you like. Ask yourself the following questions: What elements are present in all art? Why is that fun to know and experiment with? How do you mix tints and shades and tones and even mediums? The answers to this and so much more in this class! Draw your way to ideas and pictures.
