Description

This course aligns with the 8th-grade Common Core Standards and emphasizes real-world projects to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. Students will analyze literature, read two books per semester, develop arguments, and communicate effectively through writing, speaking, and listening. They will learn research skills, source evaluation, and evidence integration to support arguments while practicing collaboration, creativity, and communication through group projects. By connecting language arts skills to real-world scenarios, students will deepen their understanding of their role in the world and prepare for future academic and professional pursuits. “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” are studied as well as “The Personal Project”.
